In the Garden

In the Garden, originally uploaded by grande1976.
I finally had a chance to get outside and take some pictures of our vegetables. My husband and I have had an expanding garden since we've moved into our house. We had good intentions this year, but they didn't completely work out as planned. We planted from seeds and watched the seedlings grow, but then never got many of them into the ground. We were so disappointed that one day we went to the nursery and picked up some plants. I remember saying to my husband that we had to go home and immediately put them in the ground. I felt pretty bad for him because there were many more plants than we had originally thought. Now though, I can taste the homemade sauce and eggplant parmesan.

The August Break

I will be participating in the August break organized by Susannah Conway.  Here is the link.  I am really looking forward to it and I think it will be a lot of fun.  I just finished her online course, Unravelling, well not quite finished it, but I am working through it, and it has been great.  I will be writing about it when I figure out what I want to say.  There seems to be many thoughts about it in my head and they don't really want to come out of me in a way that makes sense.

The thing I am wondering right now is why is my little man up after only napping for twenty minutes????

Cupcakes and little girls

These cupcakes were for our friends daughter's first birthday.  How cute are they in all their handmade goodness.  Watching M is always bitter sweet for me.  She is an adorable little girl, and I say little because JP is almost as big as she is and there is about a 7 month difference.  The bitter sweet part comes with the fact that Lia should have arrived the month before M.  I watch M and picture her playing with a little girl with big blue eyes and brown curls, the perfect combination of her mom and dad.  I miss her!  That is the bottom line.  I miss her every day, and even though I cannot imagine life without JP, I still miss my baby girl.  There were bigger things in store for her, that is what I tell myself.  I know she sent the perfect little boy for us.

I took these pictures at a vineyard with my family last weekend.  It was such a lovely day with my husband, baby and my parents.  My brother was away or I am sure he would have been there too.  It was just nice to be outside and relaxing with some food and wine.

The flowers remind me of the stages of blooming.  I feel like I am in the beginning of this blooming and I don't know how to fit it all in.  I just do what I can.  I almost wish the process had happened earlier when I had more time, but there must be a reason why the blooming is happening now.  I am trying to figure out which creative route I am going to take.  There are so many creative things that I want to do.  Working on my photography is one, learning to sew and knit another.  In my free time, maybe write a children's book and learn to play guitar.  Who knows where I will end up....

This is the necklace that I got for my "first" mother's day.  It is by Gwynnie B. Designs  and I absolutely love it.  I have been wearing it just about everyday since it arrived.  I love it because I feel that it represents both my little ones.  It is from my little boy, but the heart with wings reminds me of my angel Lia Rose.  This month is tough because she should have been born June 4th.  We would have been celebrating her first birthday.  I am so thankful for what I have now, but I do still think of her all the time.  I have a feeling that JP got to meet her already.

Thanks Gwynnie for making such pretty jewelry!

Done

Today was the last day of classes for the students for the school year.  I am so excited!  The next two weeks are filled with testing, but they days are not bad and it should go pretty quickly.  I am really looking forward to spending time with my little love!

I am finding it tough to have time to do all the things that I would like to do.  I haven't written in a while partly due to the time and partly due to the fact that my laptop is being repaired.  I am hoping that it will be done tomorrow.  I miss it and want it back!

I am really looking forward to some relaxation this weekend and taking pictures for my Unravelling course.  I haven't had a chance to do much this week, it's been crazy.

Frustrated!

I just had one of those days today!  I am just frustrated.  I wish that I could just win the lottery.  Today my son had a doctors appointment at 4:15.  I left work in plenty of time to get there and I got stuck in traffic, no matter what direction I went there was just more of it.  It took me 2 hours to get home!!!  So frustrating for me.  It would not have been so bad had I not forgotten my cell phone at home.  What did we do without them.  My poor husband and my mom were both worried because it is not like me to be late.  I just really wanted to be at the appointment.  There were other little things too, but those were the two big ones!  I really just needed to vent!  I feel like this is how I spent way too much of my day!

I did however come across a quote while reading today that really spoke to me.

A woman has got to be able to say, and not feel guilty, "Who am I, and what do I want out of life? -Betty Friedan
I have not read anything written by her, but came across this quote in another book.  I really feel like that is the journey that I am on now.  I am hoping that I will be able to find the path for me.  I am not sure if the one I am on is the right one for me.  I would have never thought that before the arrival of my son.  The perspective changes instantly.  Working right now is a means to an end.  I hope that I can find one that works better for me.
