Frogger

I can't take credit for this one...not sure who took it.
I've always liked frogs, I am not quite sure why, but I have.  I used to have all sorts of frog stuff as a teenager.  I still have some of my frog charms in the jewelery box.  The first shot someone took...Don't know who, maybe my dad or my husband.  It could have been anyone really.  These frogs were in the most unsuspecting places during our vacation.  One stowed away to the beach with us in one of the beach chairs.  I loved the statues sitting outside one of the shops.  If there were room in the car I may have gotten the both of them.
The view from the back of our house for the week.
The lighthouse up close
Wild horses on the beach!
The 4runner does a great job on the beach

As I sit here in the quiet of my house (the baby is sleeping and my husband is back at work) I am missing the people surrounding me on our beach vacation.  There were two houses and lots of family.  My parents were there and my husbands mom.  There were 5 of his siblings there for most of the week and one showed up for a day when we were leaving.  Most of the kids were there too. JP got to hang out with lots of his big cousins and one little one.  My husband has 18 nieces and nephews on his side of the family, including JP.  It was great to have so many people around to play with and watch JP.  It gave me a little break and I got to see how he interacted with others it was pretty cool.  He is great at giving smiles!

The beach was awesome!  The pool was fantastic!  JP loves the water, I think he is a natural.  The views from everywhere were just so gorgeous.  I think  my favorite part of the trip was taking the 4runner on the beach to see the wild horses.  I didn't think we would, but sure enough they were there.  We even went back to see them the next day.  I tried to get video of the horses galloping on the beach, but they didn't gallop for very long.  I was really hoping to see that.  My other favorite was how much JP's cousin M took care of him.  She is 10 and could not get enough of him.  I tried to really let her help as much as I could.  We even let her "babysit" for a little while we went food shopping.  My parents stayed too, but she felt so good about helping.  It was so sweet.

I sit here in the quiet and I almost want the noise and excitement of the vacation back.  I have a week left before I return to work and have to leave the little guy for much longer than I would like to.  I am trying not to think about it and hoping maybe I win the lotto.  I know he is in great hands with my mom.  That makes it easier.  More to come....

Been a while

It has been a while, because my family has been on vacation.  When I say family I mean lots of them.  My husband and I as well as my parents and his mom and 7 of his siblings and their kids.  Two house in the outerbanks of North Carolina.  The week and the beach with family was great, but I am exhausting.  Pictures to come!!!

baby feet

baby feet, originally uploaded by grande1976.

Yesterday JP turned 6 months old! I cannot believe that I am the mother of a 6 month old baby boy. He is amazing and amazes me everyday. His big toothless grin (which will be gone very soon, I can see his teeth coming) from his crib in the morning is enough to make anything better. He is getting his own personality and it is so funny to watch. His chubby little feet are just adorable.

Sunflowers-August Break

Sunflowers from the farmer's market

They were so pretty while they lasted, unfortunately they never last as long as I would like.

Two things...good beer and good coffee

Keegan Ales- Mother's Milk
I Love love love this beer.  It is a stout and has a little sweetness to it.  It's one of those things that I really crave sometimes.  We went to the brewery while I was pregnant and I just sat and smelled it.  My husband brought a six pack home for me last week and it was delicious.  I am a dark beer kind of gal....

Ethiopia Nekisse

We typically get our coffee from a local roaster, Georgio's Coffee, and we love the taste and smell of the fresh roasted beans.  We grind them ourselves at home.  My husband went to pick up coffee the other day and he accidentally picked up a coffee that is a bit pricier than we typically get.  Let me tell you, was it a delicious treat.  We decided to use the french press instead of our usual percolator and boy was it worth it!

It's nice to have something delicious sometimes!

Flowers on the porch

Flowers on the porch, originally uploaded by grande1976.

These are flowers that are on my front porch. There are two pots of them and they are beautiful. My brother gave them to me for mother's day this year and I am glad they have survived the heat. I love coming home and seeing them.
